AZOP Racing Rowley White RV Series hosted the Mormon Lake Grand Prix May 15-16 at Mormon Lake Lodge in Arizona. The two days of racing were a challenge with dry and windy conditions reducing visibility of the track.

AZOP Racing Rowley White RV Series hosted the Mormon Lake Grand Prix May 15-16 at Mormon Lake Lodge in Arizona. The two days of racing were a challenge with dry and windy conditions reducing visibility of the track.

Big Quads and Trikes

The Big Quads and Trikes classes had 31 entries (including two trikes). Saturday saw Ron Suor (#102) destroying the competition with a stunning two-lap victory over second-placed Ian Sessions (#27) and third-placed Ian Kubik (#65). In the Trike class, Paul Airey (#71) beat out Ed Hicks (#208).

Sunday’s podium had Andrew Simmons (#34) on the top step, Jarrett Curley (#199) second and Suor third.

UTV

The 570cc Youth 1000 kicked off the three UTV races. TJ Siewers (#157) and Braden Krah (#147) were the excitement of both days. The two battled neck and neck for first, often barely squeezing two-wide around turns. In the end, Siewers had a 34 second lead over Krah for first place. Alexia Leaming (#566) placed third. Sunday brought similar results with a Siewers and Krah having their own race at the front, with Siewers in front of Krah by 21 seconds this time and Leaming also a repeat for third.

AZOP Mormon Lake Grand Prix I

Will Munns (#971) out of Flagstaff took first place on Saturday over the total of 11 entries in the UTV 1000 N/A class. Tyler Hurlock (#1994) was second and Katin Ladin (#314) was third. The next day, Munns was only able to finish one lap before breaking a tie rod, paving the way for the Hurlock to take first place over Ladin, with Mike Aanenson (#169) rounding out the podium.

In the UTV Turbo and Pro classes, the Winiecki family out of Ehrenberg showed up ready to drive with three separate Winieckis on the track at once, bringing home two victories and a second place.

AZOP returns to Mormon Lake for the next round, scheduled for July 10-11.
